The Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America founded the University of Iringa in 1994, which is when its history began. The building of the Lutheran Seminary for the Tanzanian Evangelical Lutheran Church’s Iringa Diocese was funded by Finland and Germany. Following a shift in Tanzanian government policy allowing the private sector to participate in higher education institutions, the seminary was granted university status.
For non-degree programs, the University of Iringa grants certificates and diplomas. Both undergraduate bachelor’s degrees and graduate degrees are available. At the moment, academic programs are arranged into faculties within six discipline areas: business, economics, theology and mission. Arts and Social Sciences; Law; Psychology; Science and Education. In addition, the university includes two institutes, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Microfinance, along with five directorates. It is situated in the Iringa district close to Dodoma Road and has a radio station as well as internet television.

QUALIFICATIONS
Holding an LLB degree from an accredited university. Furthermore registered as a high court advocate with a minimum of three years of legal practice experience.
