Main purpose of job:
To deliver transportation services in a safe, efficient, and polite manner to and from designated destinations within Tanzania for staff and other authorised passengers at the British High Commission (BHC), strictly adhering to road traffic regulations, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office Transport Policy, BHC Transport Policy, and Post’s security regulations.
Working in one of the largest diplomatic missions in Dar es Salaam and offering comprehensive logistical support to the mission is an interesting opportunity. In addition to having a spotless driving record, the chosen candidate must have at least four years of driving experience. Additionally, candidates must have a solid working understanding of the city, its surroundings, and other regions of the nation.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Transporting the High Commission employees to and from field trips in Tanzania as well as meetings and events in Dar es Salaam
- Delivering and gathering things like messages, parcels, notes, and invitations
- Transporting additional approved individuals as instructed
- Assuming accountability for the security of other travelers and employees of the High Commission while they are in or near one of the official vehicles
- Educating other travelers and High Commission employees about safety precautions, particularly in new environments or circumstances
- As driving or traveling with employees and other passengers, keep an eye out for potential safety hazards and respond defensively and in anticipation as necessary.
- To ensure the safety of employees and other passengers, various routes should be taken when driving to and from destinations.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:
- Able to communicate effectively in English
- Certificate in Driving
- Computer Skills (Microsoft Office and Outlook)
- 3 years’ experience as a Driver within a government or NGO or Corporate/Office environment.
